Dikir Barat meets Hardstyle Shuffling

At work now. Trying hard to not think of partying now. Need to party really. Kept on daydreaming about it. The raging partyholic is trying to burst out. Must... Keep... Calm...

Major reviews of parties coming. Just need a bit more time.

Dikir Barat VS Melbourne Shuffle

Sourcing for traditional malay performers and musician to perform at my shopping outlet in Pavilion for the upcoming Hari Raya Sale season.

Browsing, calling, browsing, ask quotation etc etc.

Lucky to have Dhaima who have contacts in the Malay art scene due to her past involvement with Majlis Teater Kuala Lumpur @ Taman Budaya Kuala Lumpur. Bless you babe.

In the midst of the endless search, I found this interesting video.

I’m for one, is no where near a fan of the pop youth thing called SHUFFLING. Too many kids. Too many scary looking kids I might add. Someone told me in the past, “SHUFFLERS are the rempits of our local EDM scene.” Hmmm… you decide.

I think shuffling, like any other youth music-base subcultures are just an outlet of self-expression, added self-identity and socializing tool. In short, when the teen angst kicks in, all hells break loose and they find PARENT-DISSAPROVING things to do. Hehehe... fun ha?

But what these boys did really breach my barrier towards them. You have to see it to believe that in the continuos vicious cycle of pop culture and the expanding hedonist modernistic beliefs… spawned these boys and their creativity to bridge the gap between the old and new.

A bit of traditional culture I might say was injected into shuffling.

Some view it as comedic… I see it as a cultural collaboration. Like what Too Phat did back in the days.

I'm sure they are not the first to do it, but after further Youtubing, I vouch that they're the first ones to have a Youtube vid. Kudos, you shuffling boys.

You enjoy this k. Gtg work some more.

Chiow.
